Live-In Support Worker

Support Workers will typically offer support and encouragement to individuals living with a learning disability, autism, mental health and behaviours that challenge.The main role of a Support Worker is to empower service users with the skills to live independently. With a person-centred approach, the support you deliver will look different for each individual. You may be supporting individuals with budgeting finances, shopping, personal care, meal planning, preparation and cooking, and engaging in activities within the local community. Live-In SupportWorker’s will typically live with an individual for a week at a time and provide them with a stable source of support for the duration of the live-in.Every day is different! So, if you’re looking for a varied, challenging and rewarding role, this could be perfect for you!

Typical duties may include:

  • Personal care (washing, bathing, dressing, oral care etc.)
  • Housework
  • Medication administration
  • Financial budgeting
  • Assistance with shopping, meal preparation and cooking
  • Supporting individuals with their dietary needs
  • Accurate record-keeping
  • Empowering individuals with independent living skills
  • Safeguarding and ensuring a high level of wellbeing
  • Escorted outings in the local community
  • Engaging in activities e.g. long walks, swimming, cycling, day trips etc.

The ideal Live-In Support Worker will:

  • Be available for week-long placements at a time
  • Have a keen interest in supporting people
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Be willing to learn and complete training
